St. Stephen's welcomes all youth in grades 6 through 12 to participate in youth activities, Sunday School and mission events. The Youth Group meets every week and does various service and mission projects throughout the year.
Youth Sunday School
During Sunday School, all the youth gather together and spend time reflecting on their daily lives and their faith experiences. It is a time for fellowship and an opportunity to be in prayer with one another and to share our joys and concerns.
Youth Group Meetings
Youth meet each Sunday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for fun, games, dinner and meaningful discussion. This is a time when the youth can come and hang out with each other in a safe environment. Our discussion time typically follows current events and how they connect to our faith understanding.
Each summer, the youth travel on a mission trip, and the destination varies each year. In the past, the youth have participated in inner-city mission work, volunteering at food banks, non – profit service organizations, hands-on repairs and construction work, and working with children and families. This year the youth traveled to Shiprock, N.M., to do mission work and learn about the culture on the Navajo Reservation. This is a great opportunity for the youth to do something that impacts the world outside of their community.
The youth also go on a Spring Retreat to one of the Oklahoma United Methodist Campgrounds. This is three-day, two-night weekend around Spring Break where the youth get away! The weekend is spent with team building exercises, spiritual practices, games, and a service project.
Each Easter Sunday, the youth host a breakfast to help raise money for the upcoming summer mission trip. The youth also host a Fall Carnival & Chili Cook-Off for the children and families to raise money for special youth events.
