The Love That Remains
What a fabulous time we had at our talent show “Brookstock”! It was beautiful, warm, raucous, and funny – all at the same time. There are so many great pictures, and a few of them are here in the Shield. A lot more are on the church Facebook page. A church should always be a place where a wide variety of things happen. We don't just worship, but we also learn, mourn, celebrate, have fun, and mark occasions great and small. It’s just like a home, where all kinds of life happens and all kinds of emotions are present. We have had a roller coaster of things going on here in the past month, Memorial services and weddings and a congregational meeting, and this past Sunday was a good time to bring some love, peace, and joy into the house.
Saudade is a Portuguese term that means ‘the love that remains’ after someone is gone. Saudade is sometimes translated as “melancholy”, but it is more - the recollection of feelings, experiences, places, or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, well-being, which now triggers the senses and makes one live again.
For the next several weeks Jennifer, our Associate over Care Ministries, has arranged for a Grief Support group. It will be led by a chaplain from a local hospice. Anyone is welcome to come, on Monday evenings at 7. Your grief may be fresh, or it may have been with you for some time. Anyone is welcome.
