The Impact of Travel
Some experiences are quickly absorbed into the swirl of our lives, and some remain in the front of our thoughts for years.
The team that went on the VIM mission trip the last week of June continues to be profoundly impacted by the experience we had, expressing our faith in a God that welcomes all. What we saw and what we learned cannot be forgotten. Faces, voices, smiles and laughter were part of it, coming even from people who had just been in an extremely difficult situation. We also saw beautiful and unusual things: flocks of parrots, palm trees in a tropical rain, and a type of Mexican duck that perches on high wires.(!)
Many types of travel impact the way we see the world – not just mission travel. Travel guru Rick Steves has said “Ideally, travel broadens our perspectives personally, culturally, and politically. Suddenly, the palette with which we paint the story of our lives has more colors.”
So, whatever type of travel you are able to do this season, near or far, may it broaden the colors of your own life stories.
Be blessed, travel in peace and with open hearts. Jeannie
