Meet Rev. Jeannie Himes

Rev. Jeannie Himes was born into a Methodist clergy family in Lawton and has lived in each quadrant of the state. After graduating from Kingfisher High School, she attended Oklahoma City University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in science education (magna cum laude).

She spent four years working at Children's Hospital at the OU Health Science Center, working in Cytogenetics, which is diagnostic chromosome analysis. She also worked in this field during seminary, at National Jewish Hospital in Denver, and later while in Kansas City, at Children's Mercy Hospital.

Jeannie attended Iliff School of Theology in Denver, earning her Masters of Divinity in 1986. She was ordained as a Deacon in 1986 and as an Elder in 1988. She has in served in many churches, including Tulsa Faith UMC; Coweta UMC; Tulsa Aldersgate, St. Luke’s UMC in Kansas City, Mo.; Epworth-Roanoke in Kansas City, Mo.; and, most recently, Douglas Boulevard UMC in Midwest City. She joined St. Stephen’s as senior minister on June 2, 2014.

Jeannie is married to Jim Eller, a now-retired Unitarian Universalist minister. They have two sons: Shaun, who lives in Oklahoma City and with his wife, Victoria, and their one-year-old son; and Sam, who attends the University of San Diego.
